Question:

Why do I get quota errors when I run Folderscape?

Answer:

When Folderscape runs, it gets a list of all the quotas for your filers from ONTAP. When ONTAP reads this list of quotas for Folderscape, it checks them for errors. If it finds an invalid quota on your filer, it reports it by sending a message to the syslog. For example, you might get an error like this if you have a quota for a qtree that no longer exists:

[quota.parse.error:error]: quota: can't stat file /vol/vol1/Harry
If you have an invalid quota on your filer, you should fix it, like this:
  1. Run Folderscape, connecting to your filer with a userid which has permission to manage quotas.
  2. Put Folderscape in advanced mode by clicking .
  3. Open the "Quotas" entry in the tree.
  4. Click on the "Errors" entry under "Quotas".
  5. You are now seeing a list of all the quotas which have errors. To work with one of the quotas, double-click on it.
