Question:
When I try to display a Windows LUN, I get an error saying I need a share. How do I add one?
Answer:
For Folderscape to display the contents of a Windows LUN, there must be a share at the root of
the disk on the Windows server.
Here's how to create such a share:
- Go to the Windows server which is using the LUN.
- Run Windows Explorer.
- Right-click on the disk drive which represents the LUN, and choose "Properties".
- Using the "Sharing" tab, add a share to the disk. (It doesn't matter what name you give to the share, as long as the share exists.)
- Re-start Folderscape. It should now see the share, and be able to display the contents of the LUN.
